Q: How are you different from other business consulting firms?

A: Unlike other firms that simply offer business consulting services, BLUE SAGE combines strategic services with implementation in order to deliver high quality solutions. Most similar companies just do the “planning part” of a project, without rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. BLUE SAGE takes a problem through to solution.

Q: My company is cutting costs, so it’s not a good time to bring in “outside help.” How can BLUE SAGE help us now?

A:  Actually, many of our clients call us when they’re cutting costs. We’re a team of hands-on experts that can deliver results without the overhead of full time staff or an agency that’s on retainer.

As companies realign their resources to their business goals, many consider outsourcing specific functions or projects to solve a problem or deliver a solution. With our Consultant-on-Call program, our clients reduce the overhead associated with a full time marketing or operations staff. Instead, we focus on a specific need, project or activity over a fixed time period. Our clients get full-time access to part-time experts.

Q: Our company is going through a lot of change right now, and its seems like it wouldn’t be the best time to bring BLUE SAGE in to help us. What do you suggest?

A: Oftentimes, the BLUE SAGE team is invited to talk through the transformation that is underway in an organization.  We work with businesses in transition every day.  Working with organizations in chaos and transformation is exactly what we do.

Q: What types of projects do you usually take on?

A:   A typical project for us is one where the client has a specific problem they’re trying to solve (like improve revenue for a product line), or they need help with day-to-day operations and marketing within their business. Often, a BLUE SAGE client “has an idea” that is struggling to turn into a concept, or “has a problem” whose nature is unknown. We apply a multi-step process to identify the problem or issue, define what’s required to address it, build a work plan and carry it out. We deliver maximum value by understanding the relationships and rippling impact that a problem and its solutions have across parts of an organization, and into the marketplace. We know we’ve succeeded when you don’t need us anymore!

Q: What is your fee structure?

A: Since the value that we deliver is customized for every project, our fees depend upon the scope, duration, and complexity of the project. A fixed project fee is estimated for each engagement based on an initial assessment of the scope and complexity of the problem or opportunity we are working on. A typical client engagement is completed in one to six months, although our Consultant-on-Call relationships extend over many months and our retainer engagements can last indefinitely.

Q: We’re a large F500 company. How can you help us ?

A: If you have a specific project or challenging area that you’d like to explore, BLUE SAGE can work with your team to define the overall scope of the work that needs to be done. Perhaps you see the symptoms of a complex business problem, but you’re not sure what the cause of the problem is. We’ll troubleshoot and identify problem areas, work with you on business strategy, and implement the solution as needed. Our services range from product marketing, project management, marketing, operations, sales process, and business strategy. We’ll act like a SWAT team – laser focused on the problem and project – then move on when the work is completed.

Q: We’re a mid-sized company. Can you help us too?

A: Mid-sized companies and non-profit organizations especially like working with us due to the range of our experience. We help these organizations make the most out of their existing resources by starting (or blending into) the existing team on any given project.
